Student Profile
Information in the student profile is updated via a data feed from SIS. The data is picked up around 6:45 PM each day and the load process runs overnight. In the lower lefthand corner of the screen, there is text that tells you the last time data in BDP was refreshed in BDP, which indicates the time that the SIS data feed completed loading.
Hovering your mouse over data in the student profile will help explain information in the audit or provide an explanation of what the symbols mean.
This is the student’s preferred name from SIS. Middle names are not included. This can be used to search for students.
This is the student’s EmplID. This can be used to search for students.
This is the student's email address. It is a link that can be clicked on to copy the email address and paste into an email to reach out to a student.
This is the student’s name.# identifier. This can be used to search for students.
These indicate a degree program or a plan on a student’s record. The graduation cap will list all plans that fall into a degree program – for example: major, minor, embedded certificate. A student may have multiple caps if they are pursuing multiple degrees or a degree and a standalone certificate. If there is a book, it might be that a student has added a what-if minor, second major, or embedded certificate or that a student has a plan on their record that does not have a degree attached to it (such as a pre-major or undecided). Plans that are on the planner but not declared in SIS will say “Not Declared” next to them to indicate that they are not official plans.
The campus of enrollment for the current term. **See the planner for information about planning by campus for students looking to changes campuses or for those who schedule on various campuses.
This is listed as EY in the student profile and is the admit academic year from SIS. The year listed will be the first calendar year of an academic year (for example, for a student admitted in Autumn 2024, Spring 2025, or Summer 2025, the EY will be 2024). The actual admit term will be listed in parentheses after the year.
This is listed as the CT and comes from SIS as the requirement term from the plan tab in the student’s CPP stack. This drives what requirement term is used for the major and any general requirements (GEs, graduation requirements, World Language requirement, etc.). **See Requirement Terms in BDP for information about how this can be distinguished in SIS for auxiliary programs.
These come from Student Groups or comments in SIS. Currently, we pull the following groups:
- Honors – students who are in the UHS group
- Honors-ASC – students who are in the H05 group
- Honors-AGR – students who are in the H15 group
- OT36X – students who completed the OT36 at another institution (students who had transcript evaluated February 2026 or later with the OT36 on them will not have this tag at this time – we are working on getting this added)
- Applicant – this is used so that the Transfer Credit Center can pull transfer applicants into BDP and evaluate their transfer credit.
- GECN – students who are eligible to take GENED 2601 for the GE Launch and Seminar course
- At certain times of the year, other tags may be added to help with commencement processing, to look for students who completed the OT36 at OSU (to attach a milestone to their OSU transcript), etc. These are generally only available for a limited time, and you may see them come and go.
This shows progress for all listed official programs on a student’s record. For students completing multiple credentials, this will not separate the credentials by default, but there are 3 dots next to “All Courses” where someone could select the credential they would like to view – this does setting is not maintained, so the person who selects it can have that view, but no one else will see it unless they select it also. It will need to be reselected each time a user goes back to that student’s record if that view is desired again.
This indicates the requirements in the audit that are marked with a flag icon. They are generally requirements that check for completion of something, but do not require additional courses (such as cumulative GPA, total residency hours, total upper division hours, a certain set of courses, etc.). This could also be requirements that require some manual intervention by an advisor to go complete.
This comes from SIS based on the assigned advisor(s) listed. There is no meaning behind the order of advisors listed when there are multiples – it is a random sort. If an advising office (rather than a specific person) is assigned to a student, the listed advisor will appear as a randomly generated set of letters and numbers. This is because the office does not have an actual identity that can be pulled into BDP.
This is an indicator of how often a student engages with BDP. The more lightning bolts that are lit means that a student has engaged more recently. If it has been a while since they have logged in, they will begin to lose lightning bolts.
These come directly from SIS and are not calculated in BDP. There is a GPA for the most recently ended term and for the student’s cumulative GPA. The term GPA will have a red down arrow if the student’s GPA is trending down and a green up arrow if the student’s GPA is trending up. The cumulative GPA is what is used to determine the overall GPA in the degree requirements listed in the audit. Other GPAs (such as program GPAs) are calculated in BDP.
This rolls with each term and shows any courses a student is enrolled in for the current term. If a student is not enrolled in the current term, this will be blank. If the student planned courses on their planner that they are not actually enrolled in, they may still appear here with a dotted line around them.
This shows what has happened on the student’s profile in BDP.
